Jab Tak Hai Jaan is a Bollywood film directed by Yash Chopra and co-produced with Aditya Chopra, the son of the director. The film was released on November 13th, 2012. In an effort to retrieve his memory from before a recent accident, Shah Rukh Khan's character sets off from Mumbai to Kolkata and then onto Bodh Gaya in search of himself. Along the way he meets a woman who he falls in love with but there lies a twist that makes this ride all the more interesting. The film's first 'director' is a first-time actor for this role. Shahid Kapoor seems to have shed his cute roles for this one and becomes a man of few words. He plays the romantic role like he has always done, but there seems to be something different about his character this time around. Other cast members include Anushka Sharma, Rishi Kapoor, Jackie Shroff, Naseeruddin Shah, Ranvir Shorey and Neil Nitin Mukesh. Film critic Rajeev Masand gave the film a 3/5 rating saying "In fact, the more you think about the relationship between Khan and Sharma's characters in Jab Tak Hai Jaan , which runs two-thirds of this film's length, the more contrived it seems. That being so, you need a good script to build a drama on. Sadly Jab Tak Hai Jaan doesn't have one. The writing is inconsistent and feels rushed at times. Characters are under-served, motivations are fuzzy. It's as if the director lost his way, got distracted by the sights and sounds of Kolkata, and forgot that he had an important story to tell. When you have actors of the stature of Khan, Sharma and Kapoor on your roster, you need to write a compelling screenplay for them." Taran Adarsh rated the film with 3 out of 5 stars on his blog saying " JTHJ is a soulful tale of two people who find themselves amidst chaos. The first hour of this film is spellbinding... But it doesn't sustain the high that the first hour has created. The flaws are glaringly there, but overall, this will go down as one of Khan's finest performances."
